This last week has been the most difficult in a while. Not necessarily from a pain perspective, although that never helps. Just from the sheer inconvenience of not having a functioning bathroom!
On Monday I took my dog Lilly to the vets for her boosters and then we went onto the Kennels. We had decided that it would be better for her to stay in one place with no stress of the banging and general cold of the house. We have had so much going on and with my hubby at home we never stay still. Once Lilly was happily settled, I headed home to deal with the bathroom situ. On the first day, the bath, sink and toilet all came out. I had already pre warned our family of what was going on and to expect random visits from us to use their facilities lol. Luckily my nan isn’t too far away so I could nip to the loo at her’s. She currently has my uncle and his dog fred staying which is quite nice. Fred always comes for a fuss when I arrive. He wants to play and have a belly rub and is so sweet. My nan likes to have a natter and a cupper with me but I do have to dash to use the facilities first. Luckily for us, my in laws had offered to have us stay of an evening so we could also bath etc. The first night was amazing as my ma in law had made a gravy dinner for us all! Mmmmmmmmmm 🙂
On Tuesday we cooked Mexican and the rest of the week we shared cooking duties. Me and my hubby love cooking. Whoever cooked, the other tidied and cleaned up which is how we always work. Sharing the load between us. If anything is ever too much my hubby takes over and is happy to do so to save my joints.
Thursday arrived with a BANG. We were having to get up at 6:45 each day to drive home and make sure we were there for the builder. The window guys also arrived to replace some sealed units and this all looks amazing now. I had meetings booked in and tried to get work done but it was so difficult. In the middle of one meeting I was leading, the builder was up in our attic and stuck his elbow through the ceiling…. great.
So…. what now!? We contacted our insurance company who won’t cover this. So we are having to change insurance companies and in about a months time we can get this fixed. Until then we have a hole….
Last night (Saturday) we managed to stay at home for the first time since Sunday. The builder had popped over during the day to give us a temporary loo. In the evening we nipped over to my mums for a bath and then slept in our own bed. Nothing like your own bed. I slept like a log and do not think I moved all night as one side of me was dead when I woke hahaha! I finally got myself up at 10:00! Much nicer than the 06:45 we have done all week even though we are off work.
I am off work next week and Lilly is now back home with us which is lovely. The builder has one more week left before it should all be done! I will do a before and after once it has been finished so you can see the extreme changes we have decided to make. This is so the house is more sell-able and we can get our narrowboat in the not too distant future!
Catch ya’ll later!
