So this week has been a trying one. I had an emergency GP appointment after having feeling nausea, dizziness and having palpitations on Monday. I called the NHS 111 service and they were concerned with my resting heart rate. I have been told that it’s extremely likely I have PoTs from an EDS specialist in London but I have not had the official tilt table test. I was given a couple of things to help prevent symptoms but it seems now that they are not working anymore. I was told to get in touch with my GP and to see them that day. I had a sister call me back to see if I could get an emergency appointment and she was concerned with the palpitations I was feeling. She told me to come in and I was at the GP’s for over an hour. Pulse, BP checked, ECG and results later I was told to go home. They were extremely thorough and I was reassured that I am OK, even with a heart rate at rest which was 112.
The following morning, I received a call from the GP telling me that she is referring me to cardiology with my ECG results and all the information I had given her. I felt very reassured that she was being so careful with me. I am actually hoping to have the tilt table test and finally get a formal diagnosis in place now so I can receive the treatment I need. For those that maybe unsure what treatments are available for PoTs I will leave this link here.
Yesterday was also my birthday! I had felt a little better so I had actually managed to get out and about. I went to my friends yard to see her horses for a few hours. LOTS of pacing and resting in between but I managed to muck out one of the stables for a foal. He is gorgeous and called Orion. I also got to have a cuddle with him whilst my friend cut his hooves and cleaned them up. He was so well behaved ❤
Afterwards I came home just in time for my uncle and my Nan to pull up in my uncles car. They had brought round my birthday card which was lovely as I got to see them both too. I had a long soak in the bath and a nap after which is just what I needed. My husband had to travel away for work that day so he didn’t get back until late but came home with a lot of lovely gifts! A bunch of roses, a beautiful heartfelt card and chocolate. I even had a lovely birthday cake! He lit a candle and I made a wish, which I will be keeping to myself 😉 My sister in law, her husband and my niece came over to see me and give me a card and pressie which was wonderful. Then me and my hubby relaxed and watch the crown. All in all it was a lovely day. I received lot’s of messages via phone, facebook and more which was overwhelming. The words that were written in my cards made me smile so much and lifted me up no end. One card had ‘I hope you have a beautiful birthday, just like you’. I nearly cried with happy tears. I even received a card from work!
Anyway, I am having to get ready for work now so I will end this post. Thank you to those that have taken the time to read this post and I send well wishes to you all for a pain and fatigue free day. Pace yourselves and don’t over do it fellow spoonies!
